Vieira Duque – Galery of art and culture in downtown

At number 1 of Adro de Cima, next to the Church “São Bartolomeu”, in the heart of Coimbra’s downtown, you will find the Vieira Duque – Gallery of Art and Culture. Inaugurated very recently, Miguel Vieira Duque (responsible for the artistic management of the gallery) aims to explore a prespective of “art grocer” (merceeiro de arte). Here people are supposed to feel the urge to enter easily, “just as they do in a souvenir or craft shop,” and feel “seduced” by art, artists, and techniques. Erotic drawings, folk art, bronze sculptures paintings and photographs. You will find an ample diversity of pieces of 44 Portuguese artists, from the very naif to the very classic, from the oil to the experimental techniques, in several dimensions and without frame to be more economically accessible and easy to transport. Prices vary between 10€ and 20,000€. For all art lovers, this is another must-see for those who visit. Now downtown is even richer, more attractive, and more creative.
