Wine house and bar Baga, number 169 on “Rua Simões de Castro”, opened in November 2022, by the hands of Bruna Maria and Abel Almeida, both from Coimbra. In a personal and welcoming space, divided over two floors, where plants and lighting stand out, the concept is simple: discover and enjoy the best Portuguese wines.
An expert in wine tasting and evaluating some of their fundamental characteristics, Abel is the sommelier who advises customers on their choice and serves them. From the wide variety of wines with very different personalities that the country offers, Abel chooses to showcase the Bairrada wines, focusing on our region and promoting it. Many of Baga’s customers are tourists who arrive from the south of the country and then head to the north, they already tasted wines from the Alentejo and will have the opportunity to discover wines from the Douro. Fortified wines are the most popular, but the common characteristic of all tourists is their immense curiosity in discovering Portuguese wines.
The snack proposals that are presented to accompany the Wines were created by Abel who, once again, highlights regional products and flavors that can be served at any time of the day: we are talking, for example, “Tosta Serrana”, Bruschetta in “Bolo de Ançã” with Smoked Salmon, Basil and Lime, Beef Carpaccio with Goat Cheese Ice Cream and “Bola de Berlin” with Shrimp and Curry.
At 17:00 every Wednesday, the “Wednesday tastings” takes place at Baga, an event held in partnership with Producers / Winemakers who come to exhibit and make their Wine knowledge, providing moments of conviviality, learning and sharing.
Opening hours: Monday to Friday, from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm; Saturday, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
