After several trips and training in Italy with the Italian specialist Giacomo Schiavon, Fernando Castelo Branco swapped Engineering and University Teaching for the world of ice cream and Coimbra is definitely winning.
In the beautiful “Praça do Comércio”, in downtown Coimbra, the Doppo ice cream shop recently opened. It is here that Fernando puts into practice the traditional Italian methodologies he learned and that allow him to make the ice cream with the highest quality.
Pineapple and Basil, Avocado and Lime, Curd and Fig, Pistachio from Sicily, Salted Caramel, Hazelnut from Piedmont, Banana Orange and Mint are some of the flavors that will make you want to return to Doppo “over and over again.” Sugar-free ice cream and vegan ice cream are also on the menu. The “Picolé”, the ice cream on a stick with fruit and chocolate coating, will refresh kids and adults.
