Do a rotary in downtown
Now that the days are hot and inviting a long and slow walk, we suggest the downtown in your rotary. Start with the Portagem Square and take a coffee in one of the esplanades there. Feel the breeze of Mondego´s River and watch the hurried pace of the locals or the relaxed pace of those who are discovering Coimbra. Follow to the Ferreira Borges Street and get lost browsing through the souvenirs that the craft shops offer. It´s worth it to enter in the beautiful Loja das Meias Coimbra, pioneer in the “ready-to-wear”, which revolutionized the Coimbra’s fashion and elegance and also in the headgear and shirt maker Salgueiro, with more than a century of history. Getting to Visconde da Luz, pay attention to the colorful Brancal, the only local shop that exclusively sells wool. On the 8 of Maio Square, next to Santa Cruz Church, treat yourself to a Crúzio, the valuable pastry of the historical Santa Cruz Coffee. Don´t think that your trip ends here. You still have many streets to discover. On the Corvo Steet, for example, we have the famous Casa Coelho, a reference on selling fabric. Don´t forget the pretty and large Comércio Square, where you can find two beautiful churches, Saint Tiago and Saint Bartolomeu. Already feeling hungry? You have a lot of delicious options in our downtown. We suggest you go local with the sexagenarian restaurant Zé Neto, located on the Azeiteiras Street, famous for the Coriander Açorda with Jaquinzinhos (Açorda de coentros com jaquinzinhos) and another restaurant named Zé Manel dos Ossos, located on Beca do Forno, known and very appreciated for their scrag bones dish (Ossos do cachaço).
