An instant classic opened its doors in the “Praça do Comércio” of Coimbra, this is a new restaurant by the renowned Chef Paulo Queirós and was named “Comércio da Praça”. This special new venue proves inviting from the first glance, standing out by the captivating combination of traditional and modern decoration and by showcasing traditional produce. This is a welcoming eatery that caters to several moments of the day. In the morning, they serve breakfast and brunch. When it comes time for lunch they always have a daily special plus a menu which offers a handful of dishes inspired by culinary tradition. For those who prefer to snack, at any time of the day, the challenge will be to choose among Folhados de Queijo Rabaçal (puff pastry with local cheese), Chouriço Cozido em Vinho Tinto (sausage cooked in red wine), Dobradinha com Feijão Branco(Tripe and beans), Pasteis de Bacalhau (codfish cakes), among many others. Conventual sweets have also found their way into the menu and it is mandatory to try the “Pastel de Santa Clara” and/or the “Pudim das Clarissas”, the results of the Chef’s own research into the region’s gastronomic roots. Finally, the drinks are also inviting: artisan beers, local gins, wines and sangrias make up the Menu. To top it all, “Comércio da Praça” also offers a small store filled with local and national delicatessens.A space that promises to stay in memory for the gastronomic experience and the pleasant atmosphere that it provides.
