The young couple Juliana Rodrigues and Tiago Carvalho, both from Coimbra, had the “audacity” of openning, in 2019, a space with a totally different and innovative concept in Coimbra: “O Croissant – brunch restaurant”. Located on the beautiful “Praça 8 de Maio” and featuring a privileged view of the “Santa Cruz” Monastery, “O Croissant” offers a brunch concept, with freshly made recipes and fresh ingredients, including Vegan options. A space that conquered the city not only for the quality and offer of the Menu, but also for the original and contemporary decoration.
After a successful project, the couple decided to again invest in the downtown of Coimbra with the recent opening of “Kaju – brunch restaurant”, number 81 on “Visconde da Luz” street. In this location, several plants and many elements in straw and wood stand out, a decoration clearly inspired by Bali, where you can feel a relaxed and harmonious energy.
At Kaju, in addition to Pancakes, Bowls, Toasts, Bagels and Eggs (which can also be eaten in the Croissant, although the recipes are different because the idea is to provide unique experiences in both spaces), you can also try asian dishes such as Shrimp Pad Thai (rice noodles, egg, carrot, soy sprouts, tiger prawns, pea peas, peanuts, lime and coriander), Chicken Curry, Tuna Tataky, Nasi Goreng (basmati rice and vegetables sautéed in ginger and soy sauce, egg and crunchy peanuts) and even Tacos.
We also highlight the rich and high quality offer in the Cafeteria area: because they want tourists to feel at “home”, here they taste the “real” Latte, Latte Machiatto, Mocca Latte, Matcha Latte… with a option of vegetable drink.
And because “a brunch” tastes good at any time of the day, Croissant and Kaju are open from 9:00 am to 6:30 pm, every day.
